FortiClient - Setup + Login

In this article we will detail instructions on how to get connect to the VPN via FortiClient. You should receive a VPN agreement from our HR department soon which will need to be filled out. While working from home you may be using software such as an FortiToken and FortiClient. In case you are unfamiliar with some of these terms, I will provide short details on them below:

FortiToken Mobile (FTM): A passcode generator on a mobile device for the VPN software. You will use your token every time you log in to the VPN which is distributed as a push notification.

FortiClient: The VPN Software on your laptop/desktop used to create the VPN Tunnel to the Mueller Network.

VPN (Virtual Private Network): Acts as a “tunnel” to the network here in our main office. This allows you to access our network resources (including the Citrix machines.)

 

Let’s get started on getting you set up to login to the VPN and logged in to your machine!

Instructions

FortiToken Mobile (FTM)

  1. Install the FortiToken Mobile application on your phone.

    1. Downloading FTM for Google Android

      1. Go to Google Play store to download the free FortiToken Mobile Android application

      2. Click here for FortiToken Mobile Android download from Google Play Store

    2. Downloading FTM for Apple iOS

      1. Go to iTunes app store to download the free FortiToken Mobile IOS application.

      2. Click here for FortiToken Mobile IOS download from App Store.

  2. Token Activation Email

    1. After IT Support assigns your token, you will receive an email with an Activation Code and an activation expiration date by which you must activate your token. You will receive the activation notification by email. If you do not activate your token by the indicated expiration date, you must contact IT Support so that your token can be re-assigned for activation.

      The activation notification looks like this for tokens issued by Mueller

      Please visit http://docs.fortinet.com/fortitoken/ for instructions on how to install your FortiToken Mobile application on your device and to activate your token.

      Activation Code for FortiToken Cloud Mobile FTC5QTL95L6FIOS2, which you will need to enter on your device later, is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

      Alternatively, use the attached QR code image to activate your token with the "Scan Barcode" feature of the app.

      You must activate your token by: Monday December 14, 2020 20:39 UTC(+0000), after which you will need to contact IT Support to re-enable your activation.

    2. Methods to Activate

      1. Scan Barcode

        If your device supports QR code recognition, you can simply press Scan Barcode from Fortitoken Mobile home screen and point your device camera at the QR code attached to the activation email.

      2. Manual Activation

        1. Press Enter Manually, then select the type of token from the Enter Manually list.

          1. For FortiToken, select Fortinet.

        2. Enter a name for this token and the Activation Code exactly as it appears in your Activation message, either by typing or copying & pasting.
          Note: FortiToken Mobile will automatically convert lower case to upper case letters so there is no need to use the Shift key when typing.

        3. Click Done.

        4. FTM will communicate with the Secure FTM Provisioning Server to activate your token. Once activated, you will see the OTP displayed on token list view.

         

    3. The token is now imported in your phone and available for use. When logging in you will now receive a push notification to approve the connection

FortiClient (Installer)

If you are using a Mueller provided computer, skip this step!

  1. Install the FortiClient application on your Desktop/Laptop.

    1. To manually install, simply download the installer by clicking the version you need below:
      Windows
      Mac
      If these do not work, you can download the client from https://helpdesk.muellerreports.com/ under the “Technical Support “ section

  2. Run the Executable it downloads

    1. In the event you receive a prompt that looks like the following, Please hit More Info and then Run Anyway. The reason for this is that the IT team has already pre-configured a lot of the setup so Windows sees it as a changed file.



  3. Accept the license Agreement and hit Next

     

  4. Hit Next on the Default Path.

     

  5. Hit Install to setup the program

     

  6. All Done. Hit Finish and you are good to go on this part

 

FortiClient (VPN)

To setup to the VPN it is super simple. Launch the forticlient app.

  1. Under Zero Trust Telemetry ensure that the following server address is connected. It may take a re-launch of the application to automagically pull the configuration files.
    ems.mueller-inc.com

     

  2. Go to the Remote Access tab and ensure that the VPN Name has SSL_Mueller selected. If it is, Just enter your Username and Password used to connect to your computer and hit Connect.

     

  3. Check your Phone and you should have a prompt. All you have to do is click Accept and you are now connected to the VPN.
